A Punk Rock Experience!

Celebrate Newport's punk rock legacy by honoring the JOCKEY CLUB in the Southgate House Revival Lounge at the 2025 MAMMOTH Music & Arts Festival!

In celebration of Newport’s rich music history, join the Southgate House Revival and Aurore Press for another “Jockey Club Takeover” in Lounge at Mammoth Fest on October 5, 2025 from noon – 8:00 PM.

Stop in for live performances all day long by musicians, artists, and friends from the original local scene, including The Tigerlilies, The Dummy Ups, Plush Machine, Disturbance, the Ric Hickey Trio, and The Carradines.

Brothers Hallman “Shorty” Mincey and Hayne “Tiny” Mincey unwittingly transformed the faded Flamingo Casino formerly located at 633 York Street in Newport, Kentucky into one of the most legendary venues for punk and alternative music of the 1980s. The Jockey Club’s prime between the years 1982 to 1988 was a pivotal place for the punk and hardcore scene, hosting nearly every influential band of that era. Bands like Black Flag, the Ramones, the Dead Kennedys, the Circle Jerks, and many more played there.
